Cruise end

Today we disembarked the Sun Princess after our 16 night cruise. The last 5 days have been uneventful.
We had a visit to Broome, we chose a last minute excursion which was pretty terrible. Luckily we had been there before.
Then we had a few sea days, I was feeling unwell with a cold so we took it easy, we also had some rough seas ......on the last day we had a port stop in Geraldton. Trevor and Michael went ashore to do some shopping and had remained in the ship to pack all our suitcases for disembarking.
Now heading home.....home sweet home

Day 11 - Darwin, Australia

The last two days we have been at sea from Papua New Guinea on our way to Darwin.

Today we started our day with an early breakfast. Then I spent a few hours doing my morning exercise as we started to head towards Darwin for our 13:00 arrival.

We had a quick lunch and then went to our excursion meeting place for our 'Defending Darwin' afternoon excursion.

I got a good photo of the Sun Princess as we headed towards our bus.

This tour focussed on the historic bombing of the city during World War II. We attended the War museum and saw a number of relics and artefacts from the period.
Very interesting.

Day 8 - Alotau, Papua New Guinea

Today we have arrived in Alotau, Papua New Guinea. We had a morning tour called 'Battle of Milne Bay'. Apparently this site was very important in the second world war, the first site where the Japanese were defeated by allied forces. Australians played a large part in this battle.

On our way back to the ship we saw this curious sign.

Whilst it was curious to us, clearly it is a big health concern for the local people and education about AIDS prevention is very important.

Day 6 - Cairns

Today we have arrived to a drizzly day in Cairns. The sun peeks out every now and then....

We started our day with a quick breakfast before heading out on our excursion.

Our excursion today consists of a 90 minute scenic rail journey in a fond class carriage up to the town of Kuranda.

A really nice train ride through some beautiful scenery. On board they served us drinks and morning tea.

Whilst we are told the town name is not of indigenous origin, the town is very much a hub of indigenous art and culture.

A great morning. Next a bus ride back to Cairns.

Day 5 - At Sea

Today we continue to steam up the Queensland coast for our arrival in Cairns tomorrow.

Last night was formal night on the ship. We took the opportunity to look nice and have a few photos.

So today we continue to relax and chill out in preparation for our next port tomorrow.

Day 4 - At Sea

Another sea day today as we head up the Queensland coast on our way to Cairns. We are starting to defrost now, reaching the warmer weather with plenty of sunshine today.

Today after breakfast we were joined as sea by at least 6 navy vessels, apparently there are military exercises going on up here. They were impressive to look at and we feel very safe with this escort!!

I was enjoying watching them as I relaxed on our balcony.....

Trevor and I then went for a nice coffee at the International Cafe, they make lovely coffees there.

Michael is off at teens club with his new friends so we won't see him until lunch time.

Afterwards I went for my morning walk, 4km so far walked this morning. Hopefully more km this afternoon.....got to keep active here and I love to walk and listen to my music, great way to relax 😎
