July 12, 2018 - Stockholm, Sweden - Excursion to VASA museum

Today we arrived in Stockholm for a picturesque sail into the port.

We boarded our coach and drove into the city, seeing some nice architecture on the way.

We had an excursion today to the VASA museum. The VASA was a famous Swedish ship that sunk only 15 minutes into its maiden voyage in 1628. The vessel was said to have been poorly designed, too high and small ballast tanks so it just fell over and took on water. After 300 years on the floor of the harbour, it was raised in pristine condition in the middle of the 20th centrty. The wooden vessel was so well preserved under the water as the water in the harbour has very low salt content.
The vessel is so beautifully ornate.

It was very interesting.
We then went into the museum of natural history to learn about the Vikings.
After this we went into the old town and wandered around and then had lunch before joining our coach again to hear back to the ship.
Tomorrow, Tallin Estonia
