January 8, 2020 - Phu My - Vietnam

Today we arrived at our first port stop, Phu My in Vietnam.
We took a ships excursion today to see the Long Phuoc tunnels used during the Vietnam war and then we visited the Australian memorial site, the Long Tan cross, a very revered site with reference to the battle of Long Tan.
We docked at the container terminal, here are some photos of it

We went to a local market and saw a range of local produce

Then off to the Long Phioc tunnels

Our local guide brought flowers for us to place at the Long Tan cross which was a solemn moment.

Lots of banana plants here

On the trip to these sites we got a glimpse of the Vietnam life, still rudimentary but improving.
The weather was extremely hot and humid which made our excursion unpleasant. Note to self, no more trips to hot climates!!
